Welcome to the Wacousta Barnett's 2017 Memory Pages

The big event of the year was Lee receiving the Historical Society of Michigan's highest award: The Lifetime Achievement Award. The photo on the left shows proud wife Dot and mother Kathleen with the awardee.

Dot also had her moments of achievement: She received two American Orchid Society awards for her plants. Pictured on the left is Paphiopedilum Lady Isabel 'Wacousta' AM/AOS, and on the right is Paphiopedilum Temptation 'Wacousta' FCC/AOS.

This year was a rather crazy one, weather-wise. Looking back, we saw a very dry Summer which led to a Fall with colors that were muted in comparison with year's past. But we still had some interesting color in our yard. The following photos will exemplify why the Impressionists were so fascinated by how light affects color and shape at various times of the day and weather conditions:
