Barnett Greetings 2019
We made a couple trips this year, besides Barnett family reunions in Pentwater. In the Spring, we journeyed to the San Filippo Estate as a fundraiser for the Illinois Railroad Museum for a Whurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ concert and tour of the estate, which included a ride on their majestic carousel, housed in its own building. Crazy us, because we had a comittment the following day, we made the trip from our home to the Estate on the west side of Chicago, and back, in one day!

But if one is from Michigan, one need not travel to the west side of Chicago to hear a theatre organ or ride a carousel -- one need only travel to the Grand Rapids Historical Museum. We did that at the invitation of friends Paul and Ione Trapp. The museum also has a Whurlitzer Theatre Organ, an operative carousel, a planetarium, and many other displays that depict Michigan's history and beyond.

In September, we made a combination research and wedding trip (Dot's grand-niece) to the UP. The research part was somewhat fruitful, though it rained most of that time. But the sky cleared and the day was beautiful for Gretchen and Dylan.

Every time we traverse the Mackinac Bridge, Dot tries to photograph it in different ways. It is such a majestic structure, it is fun to try to see it with fresh eyes each time we pass.

This crazy chair looks simple to sit in, but it is very tricky to stay still.
